WHO WE ARE

According to the Greenville Homeless Alliance, there are more than 3,800 homeless people in Greenville County in Greenville. Greenville County has the third-highest number of homeless people among the counties in the state of South Carolina, with 1,304 of the homeless consisting of children. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of homeless has increased. Bright Lights Greenville aims to help the homeless of Greenville, South Carolina by providing kits that help to meet their basic hygiene needs.

For many years, our family made small toiletry bags to give to homeless individuals whom we would regularly see on our drive to and from school. During the pandemic, we sat down as a family and thought about how we could do more with the collection of bags that we kept in our car. This led to us reaching out to the Pastor of Triune Mercy Center and the Site Coordinator at Catholic Charities in Greenville, South Carolina, and establishing a monthly drop-off of hygiene kits.

In October of 2021, we received a grant from Global Youth Mobilization which has allowed us to become an official 501(c)(3) organization. It has also allowed us to launch this website.

Three years after starting Bright Lights Greenville, we are now providing monthly hygiene kits to three local organizations: Triune Mercy Center, Catholic Charities of South Carolina, and St. Anthony of Padua Church Outreach. We have raised $25k for the homeless and have distributed over 3,600 hygiene kits.
